Part-time, 8 hours per week
The Network PC Technician is responsible for providing general and specialized end-user IT support for staff. Duties include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading computer hardware, software, peripherals, and telephony equipment in a client/server networked environment. The position will also monitor and maintain the overall IT environment to ensure stability, provide end user support, assess user training needs and train users in effective use of applications. Additionally this position makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation; and completes other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
• Completes a regularly scheduled analysis and monitoring of client/server systems for any potential performance and/or stability issues; with the leadership and oversight of the Systems Manager resolves the issues or ensures that any open issues are addressed and resolved.
• Installs, configures, upgrades and troubleshoots Windows workstation operating systems and application software in a client/server networked environment, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.
• Installs, assembles, configures and troubleshoots computers, monitors, network infrastructure telephony equipment, and peripherals such as printers, scanners, copiers, faxes and related hardware; pulls cables, and crimps, rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
• Provides end user application support and training as appropriate.
• Provides support for employee access to the information and communication systems. Includes domain access, email access, security access, and telephony access. .
• Perform nightly backups of servers and data while administering a scheduled rotation of tapes both on and off-site.
• Administer client security and virus protection via Symantec software. Includes daily downloads and pushes new definitions to desktops.
• Ensure the systems compliance with requirements through the implementation, auditing, and adherence to policies, procedures and security standards.
• Create and maintain a database, which can track support issues and resolutions
• Maintains an updated manifest of all hardware and software inventory.
• Maintains detailed documentation of all job functions for use as reference material.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Secondary Functions:
• Provides on-going testing and research to further increase systems/application performance/stability and offer more robust functionality to increase system and user efficiency.
• Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
• Proactively visits end users on a regular basis.
• Participates in training and study to improve job-related skill sets.
Specific Job Skills:
• Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting Windows workstation operating systems and software within a client/server networked environment, using primarily standard financial, business and administrative application practices
• Demonstrated experience installing, assembling, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing computer hardware, and peripherals such as central processing units, servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, copiers, faxes, and related hardware.
• Demonstrated experience supporting users in a networked environment
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts, client server concepts, telecommunications and the equipment and software required to maximize system support;
• Proficiency with using Microsoft Windows XP professional workstation and desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from a diverse economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, physical and mental abilities and sexual orientations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field and two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Full-time, 40 hours per week – 7:00 am – 3:00 am
Responsible for greeting clients who come to use the bathroom and laundry facilities; monitor the clients and ensure they have the supplies they need for personal hygiene; clean facility in accordance with Health Department and agency standards.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
• Greet public kindly and respectfully when they come to the hygiene department for services such as laundry, shower and/or bathroom facilities
• Monitor clients who use restrooms, showers, sinks, washers and dryers
• Ensure safety and security of clients and staff
• Enforce program policies and agency rules
• Distribute razors, soap, towels and other supplies needed for personal hygiene
• Ensure the Hygiene Department is kept clean and sanitized, exceeding Health Department standards at all times
• Make sure there are adequate supplies such as towels, shampoo, soap, gloves and cleaning materials accessible at all times in the Hygiene Department
• Mediate conflicts and model appropriate problem solving
• Provide de-escalation and crisis intervention to clients of all programs in common areas
Interpersonal Contacts:
Contacts are made on a daily basis within the agency. There is a high degree of contact with clients, direct line staff and volunteers. Contact is also made with agency managers and administrators. Contacts are sometimes made with other human services agency staff. Communication involves information that ranges from public to confidential.

• Proficiency in Spanish helpful
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED; previous employment with high public contact; knowledge and/or experience with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse and employment.
Job Condition:
Crisis oriented human services environment; work may be interrupted by a crisis in the facility; work involves daily physical movement within the facility and involves the use of stairs or elevator to gain access.
Hours: 4 nights/week from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am
Immediate opening for a building specialist responsible for the safety and security of the residents of the Compass Center’s Karlstrom Apartment building. Position is temporary approx 6 weeks until suitable staffing pattern is established. Successful employees in building specialist role will be referred to other programs for further employment opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Monitors building to ensure only authorized persons enter the building.
• Ensures the removal of unauthorized persons within Compass Center guidelines.
• Monitors all areas of the building and systems.
• Contacts 911, police, detox, fire department, and other service agencies and appropriate staff for assistance as needed.
• Ensures all guests follow building rules and policies.
• Follows building/staff safety and emergency procedures according to Compass Center policies.
• Responds to tenant issues as appropriate or as directed by the Program Manager and supports building rules.
• May be required to clean body fluids in emergency situations.
• Keeps a log of all building activities.
• Fills out appropriate paperwork.
• May be required to perform light janitorial and or maintenance duties as appropriate.
• Participates and contributes to meeting of team goals.
• Other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications
Relevant experience in monitoring building safety and security.
Previous customer service experience.
Experience with working with diverse, low-income, and special-need population.
